Barnsdall Park’s famed Friday Night Wine Tasting Fundraiser

With stunning views overlooking the City, Barnsdall Park welcome Angelenos—21 years and older—to sip wine, picnic, and watch the sunset for another not-to-be-missed season of wine tasting at the iconic cultural destination.

Marking its 8th season and attracting sellout crowds, the renowned Barnsdall Friday Night Wine Tastings—the Foundation’s signature fundraising event—returns to the hill on June 3rd and continues through September 2nd. While families of all ages are invited to enjoy the Park, picnic, dance, and participate in craft-making, due to legal regulations, only those ages 21+ will be allowed inside the fence for the wine tasting portion. 

Music will be presented by KCRW’s DJ Dan Wilcox and ongoing partner, Silverlake Wine, who will curate their fine selections of boutique artisanal wines for park-goers. Local gourmet cheese shop, Say Cheese, is also sponsoring the event and there will be a number of specialty food trucks on hand from tacos to ice-cream!

This year, Lyft is partnering with the Foundation to provide discounted rides to Barnsdall wine-goers. There will be a brand-new merchandise table with Barnsdall-centric swag available for purchase, including branded wine-tasting Tees, signature wine glasses, Barnsdall picnic blankets as well as savory and sweet snacks.

Taking place on the West Lawn tickets cost $30 for a tasting and $45 for a tasting + tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s UNESCO-nominated Hollyhock House. The event supports the Park’s capital projects, art programs, historic renovations and gallery exhibitions.

MAINopoly: Taste of Main Street

The 3rd Annual MAINopoly: Taste of Main Street event will take place at the street’s best food and beverage establishments to raise funds for Summer SOULstice and Heal the Bay. MAINopoly is a fun, interactive community event that mirrors the classic board game, and gives participants a culinary walking tour of Main Street’s finest restaurants, juiceries, ice cream stores, coffee shops and more.  

 

Attendees will receive food tastings at participating locations, which will feature items such as pulled pork sliders from Areal, lobster shooters from Knuckle & Claw, gelato tastings from Dolcenero Gelato, coffee from Bulletproof and many more. Select restaurants will also be offering drink specials like $4 draft beers, $5 cocktails and $5 shots for those with the official wristband. 

 

Other activities include beer gardens, Kids Zone at Books & Cookies, “Go to Jail” at Pink Elephant and a VIP lounge sponsored by Shock Top with hosted beer, food, DJ, snacks, games and more. Attendees are encouraged to dress in “Monopoly”-inspired or patriotic attire. Those who check off all of the locations on the “game board” and turn it in at the official after party at AREAL will be entered to win a “Taste of Main Street” prize package with gift certificates to participating locations.
